The National Biodiversity and Business Network of South Africa was officially launched at the Gordon Institute of Business Sciences (GIBS) in Sandton on 15 May 2013. On 26 April 2013, Mr Anthony Makeketa, responsible for marketing and communications at the Albert Luthuli Centre for Responsble Leadership (ALCRL), visited the Albert Luthuli Museum in Groutville to meet and interview Dr Albertina Luthuli, the daughter of Chief Albert Luthuli. The main objective of this historic visit was to interview Dr Luthuli on the topic of responsible leadership and also to explore the legacy of her father, Chief Albert Luthuli and how the ALCRL can contribute to his legacy through its academic and research offerings.

Prof Ernie Heath from the Department of Business Management was recently invited by the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and the African Council for Touring & Automobile (ACTA) to facilitate a two-day Learnership Programme in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The key focus of the event was to strategically explore practical and innovative ways to develop and promote drive-tourism in East and Southern Africa. Countries that were represented, included Botswana, Kenya, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
