University of Pretoria honours its partners against crime

Crime-fighting in Hatfield is a team effort. To recognise this important fact and show appreciation towards their partners against crime, UP’s Department of Security Services honoured two members of the Visible Policing Unit at the South African Police Services’ (SAPS) Brooklyn station last week.
Colonel Andrew Lesch, Head of the Visible Policing Unit at Brooklyn SAPS and his colleague in the unit, Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Molefe were thanked for their loyal support and promotion of the University’s safety interests. Prof Cheryl de la Rey, Vice-Chancellor and Principal, handed the awards to these Friends of the University.
The department’s annual awards to exemplary staff members were also handed out during the same event. Ms Linda Meyer, Senior Investigating Officer from the Department was named Protector of the Year.
During her keynote address, Prof De la Rey commended members of the department for their hard work and noted that their level of service delivery can set a national example.
