The Hans Hoheisen Wildlife Research Station
The Hans Hoheisen Wildlife Research Station officially re-opened in August 2010 and was refurbished and upgraded to provide research support, among other, to all research projects in the Mnisi area and adjacent conservation areas. The station is based next to the Orpen Gate into the Kruger National Park and is situated in the Great Limpopo Tranfrontier Park. The station is managed by the Faculty of Veterinary Science in partnership with the Peace Parks Foundation and the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency. The station provides laboratories and other research facilities, accommodation, enclosures for a variety of animals, an auditorium, library and office space. With visiting and resident researchers, veterinary technicians, and a state veterinarian, this station plays a pivotal role in supporting ground-breaking research at the wildlife/livestock interface.
