Welcome to the Centre for Mediation in Africa
Our goal is to help make mediation efforts throughout Africa more effective. We do so by offering academic and practical courses in mediation, researching new and current best practices, and supporting organisations such as the United Nations, the African Union and those African governments involved in the mediation process.
We do this by:
Teaching postgraduate courses on mediation
Training senior government officials in mediation skills
Partnering with other universities to expland our research and teaching reach
Assisting the UN, the AU, sub-regional bodies and African governments build their mediation capacity and expertise

The Centre for Mediation in Africa has released the April issue of its working paper series, Mediation Arguments.
The Centre for Mediation in Africa has released its Activity Report for September 2012-February 2013.
News from the Centre for Mediation in Africa (CMA), housed in the Department of Political Sciences, University of Pretoria.
The CMA is pleased to announce the publication of two further papers in its Mediation Arguments series and a second it its Practitioner Notes series.
On 13 October 2011 the President of the Republic of South Africa, His Excellency Dr Jacob Zuma, addressed the UP staff, students and members of the Diplomatic Corps and other invited guests on aspects of South Africa's Foreign Policy.
