International Wildlife Tuberculosis Conference

A specialist M. bovis Conference for those interested in wildlife TB

This conference will bring together in the heart of the world famous Kruger National Park researchers, conservationists and policy makers interested in and concerned with wildlife tuberculosis throughout the world. This will be an exciting midterm event supported by the initiators of the series of International Mycobacterium bovis conferences

Travel Information

When booking your flight to South Africa, please ensure to inform your travel agent to book your flight all the way to Nelspruit Kruger/Mpumalanga International Airport. Also keep in mind that the airport is two hours’ drive away from Skukuza and the latest entry to the Kruger National Park is at 6 pm. Therefore flights arriving later than 15:30 will not permit same day arrival in Skukuza .

Shuttle services are available from Nelspruit Kruger International Airport to Skukuza Camp in the Kruger National Park. More details will be posted closer to the event.

Malaria

Malaria is endemic in the Lowveld of Mpumalanga, including the Kruger Park and precautions in the form of malaria prophylactics need to be taken. Please consult your physician before travelling to South Africa.

Study asks for ban on 4x4s in protected areas - 15/04/2014
Soil damage caused by 4x4 vehicles is underestimated, long term – between 5 and 1000 years - and mostly irreversible. Due to their negative environmental impact, vehicles should not be allowed to do off-road driving in protected areas. Strict legal measures should be applied to regulate 4x4 use in such areas, while very sensitive areas such as wetland areas should be classified as absolute no-go areas.
