Mission

Mission (to be achieved by 2011)

 

The Department of Occupational Therapy delivers occupational therapists of the highest international standard who are capable of working in all South African contexts according to a client-centred approach that takes into consideration the culture and community of the client.

  • These therapists work with an evidence-based approach, which provides data for research in the discipline and demonstrates ethical behaviour.
  • The curriculum and teaching approach by which they are taught, addresses current needs and equips them to develop services that meet international standards.
  • The training facilities and staff establishment meet contemporary needs to train occupational therapists according to a problem-based approach.
  • Service learning projects initiated by the department over the previous years, deliver appropriate services to the respective communities.
