The B Ed Hons: EMLP Distance Education programme requires you to critically engage with problems encountered in public education, based on a sound theoretical knowledge and associated practical competences acquired through this programme. You must therefore deconstruct theoretical knowledge and reconstruct it in such a way as to serve specific purposes. You must critically reflect on what you learn so that you can gain theoretically as well as experientially. In this paradigm, facilitators are not the sole constructors of knowledge, but act as guides and partners with students, in the construction of relevant, contextual knowledge and/or new theory. The overarching aim and philosophy therefore is to 'construct' transformation to improve the quality of education in our schools.
