Jeanetta du Preez taught mainstream Mathematics for first-year Science and Engineering students in the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics since 1989. She joined the Engineering Augmented Degree Programme in 2008. She considers it a challenge to find ways to explain difficult mathematical concepts to students and incorporates technology to help students to visualize concepts.
Research interests:
- Mathematics education;
- Supportive intervention in first-year tertiary Mathematics education;
- Applied Mathematics.

Mr Kendy Madisha

Kendy Madisha started his career in engineering in 2001 as a simulation design engineer working for PBMR. After a stint of less then 4 years he took up a position as a business consultant with Accenture Ltd where he was involved in financial and business process analysis for clients such as SAB Ltd. In 2005 he took up a research position with the Netherlands Research and Consultancy Group (NRG) where he was designing nuclear hydrogen production facilities. Since 2009 he has been a director of various small engineering companies working on small contracts in engineering projects. In 2011 he reconnected with his passion for research and teaching and is now a lecturer at the University of Pretoria.
Research interests:
- nuclear hydrogen production as alternative energy;
- improving engineering education.

Thomas Masvosve lectured at Chinhoyi Technical Teachers’ College in the Automotive Engineering Department from 1996 tot 2002. He joined Chinhoyi University of Technology (Zimbabwe) in 2003. He was employed as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Production Engineering up to 2005 before moving to the Department of Mechatronics.
Research interests:
- technology adoption and emerging innovative practice among staff and students at UP;
- the impact of reflective facilitation on first year students’ self-regulated learning and their academic achievement in a computer-supported collaborative learning environment.
