Welcome to the Centre for Geoinformation Science

The Centre for Geoinformation Science (CGIS) is an internal platform from where the excellence of UP individuals and teams involved in geographic information science (GISc) research, education and training, professional development and community engagement is supported and strengthened.

CGIS aims to facilitate UP GISc research collaborations, education and training and professional alliances within South Africa and abroad and to be a partner to the South African geoinformation industry in support of GISc research, education and training, professional development, community engagement.

Advancements in 3D map geovisualizations - 14/04/2014
From Centre for Geoinformation Science

Sebastian Pasewaldt from the Hasso-Plattner Institute from the University of Potsdam, Germany visited the Centre for Geoinformation Science (CGIS) and the CSIR early April 2014. Sebastian is currently busy with his doctoral studies in Computer graphics and his research focusses on 3D geovisualisation of maps.
