Show you care with a Tukkie Card

The Tukkie Card provides a costless and effortless way for UP alumni (also known as leading minds) to support the University. By using this Absa  credit card – in Tukkie colours – you make donations to the Tukkie Card Fund, which supports deserving campus projects. Remember that everyone’s small contributions make a huge difference in the end.

The Tukkie Card will be relaunched later this year with exciting new colours and new beneficiary projects. The first project that will benefit from the Tukkie Card Fund is the upgrade of the disability access and facilities at Kya Rosa. A ramp will be built for wheelchair access and the ablution facilities will be upgraded to accommodate people in wheelchairs. Kya Rosa, the home of alumni, currently has no facilities or access for persons with disabilities. 

Tukkie leading minds want more from life than their own wellbeing. They grab opportunities to shape the future of others, their community, the planet and the advancement of their Alma Mater. The Tukkie Card shows their appreciation for UP’s influence on their livelihoods, careers and future. Invest in the UP tradition – a gift to the University of Pretoria is also a gift to the community at large.

You can participate by changing your existing Absa credit card to a Tukkie Card or by applying for a new Tukkie Card. You don’t need to be an existing Absa client. You can also apply for a Tukkie Card in addition to your existing credit cards of other banks. However, applications are subjected to a normal credit evaluation. Start swiping as soon as you have your card. It is as easy as that – Absa will automatically donate a percentage of your annual card turnover to the Tukkie Card Fund.

Apply online on the Absa website (www.absa.co.za) at credit cards > lifestyle/youth > affinity cards or visit your nearest Absa branch and ask for an application form for the Tukkie affinity card.
