Prof Niek Grové is the Registrar and was appointed in 2001. Prior to this appointment he was Professor in the Department of Private Law at the University.

He obtained his LLB and LLM degrees from the University of Pretoria, and completed his LLD at the University of Johannesburg.

Prof Grové has published a number of articles in recognised journals. He is a member of the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf) and the Suid-Afrikaanse Akademie vir Wetenskap en Kuns.

As Registrar of the University of Pretoria, Prof Grové is responsible for general institutional supervision in order to, among others, meet the requirements of the Higher Education Act, Act 101 of 1997 as amended.
