Prof Fourie Joubert
works in the field of bioinformatics. His primary research focus is on the in silico selection of putative drug target proteins and lead chemical compounds against the malaria parasite, Plasmodium falciparum. He is also involved in genomics, especially as related to high-throughput sequencing. Active in high-speed computing technologies including cluster and GRID computing he takes responsibility for the ZA-UP gLite GRID computing domain. Over the next 5 years he aims to provide advanced in silico resources for malaria drug discovery, and collaborate in the exploitation of malaria drug targets.
