Do you think it is time to get a laptop, or upgrading your existing machine? Well, being a student or member of staff at the University of Pretoria will help you save money with the Student Laptop Initiative.

The University of Pretoria is participating in the Student Laptop Initiative that aims to provide high quality laptops to students and staff at discounted prices. Using collective bargaining, the Association of South African University Directors of Information Technology (ASAUDIT) and the Purchasing Consortium (PURCO) negotiated special rates on behalf of participating universities.

Products have discounts as high as 35% of the listed price, and all include Microsoft Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 10 Professional free of charge (valued at approximately R3 500). Acer and Lenovo both provide four models, with similar specifications, ranging from entry-level to advanced machines.

For more information, visit aceredu.co.za for Acer deals and studentlaptop.co.za for Lenovo deals.
