Welcome to the Student Sport Committee (SSC)

                                                             

We as the Student Sport Committee (SSC) are dedicated to the effective management and coordination of sporting activities and events to the benefit of all students, irrespective of whether they are day students or members of a residence, day house or a society. We are in a unique position where we interact and engage with various structures across the University of Pretoria, we therefore see it as our responsibility to facilitate a proficient working relationship amongst these structures, as their joined efforts ultimately contributes to the continued success of the University of Pretoria.

UP Fine Art student overall winner for the Art and Design category at Hello Ambassador conference - 24/10/2014
The awards ceremony of the Hello Ambassador Art and Design Competition took place on the 18th of October at the South African State Theatre, in the city of Pretoria. University of Pretoria Fine Art students, Izak Buys and Matilda Engelblik who are both currently in their third year of studies were amongst the nine finalists.

UP’s Exceptional Young Researcher of 2014 delivers findings to an international audience - 23/10/2014
Prof Darryn Knobel is providing great insight into the control and foreseeable elimination of rabies. He recently presented his work at the 39th World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) Congress held in Cape Town. Prof Knobel leads UP’s Faculty of Veterinary Science’s research group on dog population ecology and rabies epidemiology, which studies the ecology of owned, free-roaming dog populations in resource-constrained communities, particularly at wildlife interfaces. The group's aim is to better understand the interactions between dog population dynamics and rabies control, as well as other aspects of dog health and welfare.
