An unassuming woman who was the first black female to obtain a PhD in education back in 1992 went on to become quite a trail blazer in the education landscape. She is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kha Ri Gude, a mass literacy campaign that has been enormously successful thus far.
Renée Hlozek is a young South African woman who works as a cosmologist at Princeton University in the USA. That is already a feat for any South African, but is also the understatement of the year. She is a Lyman Spitzer Jr postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Astrophysics at Princeton University, a Spitzer-Cotsen fellow in the Princeton Society of Fellows.
