Call for nominations and notice of election

In accordance with the provisions of the Statute of the University of Pretoria, nominations from Convocation members are invited for the election of the President of the Convocation of the University.

The closing date for nominations is Tuesday, 10 July 2012. The subsequent voting process will commence on Wednesday, 1 August 2012 and end on Friday, 10 August 2012.

Nomination forms and full information on the nomination and voting processes, as well as the ballot papers will be available on the UP website at http://web.up.ac.za/convocation on 1 July 2012 and 1 August 2012 respectively. 

Convocation members who do not have internet access may contact Estelle Walmsley at telephone 012 420 3885 or by fax at 012 420 4902 with queries or in order to obtain the required forms. Members may also contact her by email at estelle.walmsley@up.ac.za.

Please note that the requirements applicable to the nomination of a candidate are available on the UP website (see the web address above). It may also be requested from Estelle Walmsley at the election enquiries office at UP.

PLEASE NOTE:  In terms of the Statute the UP Convocation consists of – 

  • All persons who have obtained a qualification, as approved by the Senate and Council, from the University; and
  • the Principal, the Vice-Principals, the Executive Directors, the Registrar, the Deans of faculties, the academic employees on the permanent staff of the University, professors emeriti, other retired academic employees.
