National Benchmark Test (NBT)The University of Pretoria currently uses the NBT for selection and admission purpose.Some faculties require prospective student to write the NBT in the year prior to entry. It is compulsory for Health Science and Veterinary Science applicants to write the NBT before 8 July as part of the selection process. The outcome of the test provides information to assist with the placement of applicants in appropriate curricular routes (e.g. regular or longer/ four year programmes). It measures the ability of prospective students to transfer understanding of academic literacy, quantitative literacy and mathematics to the demands of tertiary course work.
