Alumni career portal is relaunched


The alumni career portal is being relaunched after the recession drove recruitment levels down significantly and forced companies to find more creative ways of recruitment. The new alumni portal will allow job-seekers to respond directly to companies’ job advertisements via the website.

In the past, suitable candidates who applied for positions were interviewed, shortlisted and presented to clients. However, there was an overwhelming demand from both companies and alumni for the portal to serve more as a conduit, and for prospective candidates to send their applications directly to clients, thus the model has been changed.


The career portal now allows alumni to go to a single website to view a range of positions from a number of employers and to apply directly for positions by either leaving their information on the employer’s career portal or by simply attaching their CVs. It also enables them to follow up on the progress of their applications with each company directly. This model allows for a much greater number of career opportunities to be offered to alumni. Employers also benefit by placing their job advertisements across all university alumni portals, thereby accessing incredible talent in one place without paying placement fees.


The alumni career portal can be accessed by going to the Mentor and Career Service page and logging on to the careerportal. The key is to build the activity levels on the portal, as the more response employers see, the more jobs they will advertise on the website.
