Tuks junior squash players take 3 titles

Robyn Baptist, Ruan Olivier and Makgosi Peloakgosi each won their respective section at the SA Schools Closed - the Nationals for schools players.
The competition was tough with only the top 4 players per province getting an invitation to play. All three Tuks players were stretched by some opponents but proved too strong for the rest of the field.
Robyn had a good run against Elani Landman (EP) but showed her experience through a disciplined approach, tight shots and variation of height and pace. Elani ran in circles and although she showed determination just wasn't in Robyn's class.
Ruan's final match against Ross Pretorius (Border) was a bit of a disappointment. Ross had made his way to the final without losing a game and a hard match was expected. Ruan's skill, touch and quick feet proved too much for Ross and Ruan ran through him with a 3-0 win
Makgosi had a bit of a shaky start losing the first game against Gauteng's Siobhan Hawyes. She refocused during the 90 second break, changed her tactic by moving Siobhan from corner to corner and into a 3 - 1 win.
Other Tuks players who also did well to end in the Top 6 were Alexa Pienaar (u16's/3rd), Josh Pretorius (u14's/4th) and Boipelo Montwedi (u14's/6th)
The top 6 players per age group get selected to go on the SA Schools tour to USA Canada tour in December 2010.
