The University of Pretoria FC, known as AmaTuks, headed to Seshego Stadium in Polokwane, Limpopo, on 17 October with a clear expectation to win and better their position on the National First Division Inland stream Log. They played against Winners Park.

Coach Steve Barker fielded the strongest team available. Some key players like Bafana Sibeko and Sebastian Andrew were out of selection due to sustained injuries which resulted in Richard Ferreira and Bridget Motha’s inclusion in the starting XI.

AmaTuks took early charge with a couple of attacking moves that could have resulted in goals. On occasion, Winners Park launched their own attacks that were dealt with effectively by the AmaTuks defence and goalkeeper, Siya Mngoma.

Goals started pouring in the second half. Dlamini opened the score board, followed by Maebela 5 minutes later before the opponents could retaliate. AmaTuks lost some momentum and rhythm after the referee’s harsh decision to send off  Thulani Notyhawe after he got his second yellow card of the game.

Left with 10 men standing, AmaTuks kept on  scoring score, in this case through Rammutsoe. The comfortable lead didn’t last long as the opponents used their advanatage of being one player more on the pitch. Tukkies were shaken by some good runs from Winners Park, but the day was saved after Barker  introduced impact players from the bench. This led to AmaTuks having the final say with their fourth goal.

TEAM: Mngoma, Moyo, Matsi, Ntusi, Notyhawe, Wambi, Motha, Maebela, Rammutsoe, Ferreira and Dlamini. Substitutions: Cotzee, Ndhlovu, Monare, Dondo, Makwakwa, Rodrigues, Shoro (Makwakwa on for Rammutsoe; Manare on for Dlamini).

Booked: Phinda Dlamini.

Sent off: Thulani Notyhawe.
