AmaTuks’s debut in the Premier Soccer League was met with great excitement from both the University and the Tshwane community.
AmaTuks played their first league match against Maritzburg United at the Tuks stadium on Sunday, 12 August 2012.
New signee, David Radebe, scored the opening goal for the home team in the 51st minute, just six minutes after replacing Dipsy Selolwane.
Sepeke Manamela received a red card for a dangerous tackle with only two minutes remaining. A late equaliser from Maritzburg United in the 92nd minute by Mario Booysen spoiled a dream start for AmaTuks, with the match ending in a 1–1 draw.
The result places AmaTuks 10th in current standings.
