The Institute for Women’s & Gender Studies will be hosting its annual Winter School in June

The upcoming Winter School aims to offer prospective participants with a critical understanding of gender.
The outcomes of the course are:
- To integrate gender issues in every day life
- To explore how traditional ideas and attitudes about gender affect women’s and men’s access to resources and decision-making
- To understand why gender sensitivity and awareness are important to social development
- To understand the intersections between gender and transformation
- To understand the relationship between gender and disability
- To understand the importance of a gender awareness in the workplace
The content for the course includes:
- Conceptual clarification / Dimensions of diversity
- Gender, sexuality & sexual orientation
- Transformational leadership: the issues and tasks
- Gender and Development
- Monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment
- Gender-based violence
- Gender and budgeting
- Gender mainstreaming: policy development and analysis
The course will be offered from the 1-4 June 2010. The course fee is R4600 per enrolment.
