TuksSport Alumni

Hall of fame/Roemsaal

Following the successful launching of the TuksSport Hall of Fame in 2000, the University of Pretoria proudly presents its annual Hall of Fame Banquet, where TuksSport pays tribute to its sport stars of yester year. The legends that have been honoured to date are listed below.

The TuksSport Hall of Fame comprises three main categories:

• The first category is to ensure that all Sport Alumni and members of Tuks sport clubs, who have represented South Africa, will be inducted to the Hall of Fame .

• The second category is for individuals who, over a long period of time, have rendered exceptional services, to sport at the University – as an administrator, having captained a first team for many years or performed exceptionally in an individual sport to become a household name in the country.

• The third category is for those individuals who have achieved in sport in an exceptional way. This includes winning medals at the Olympic Games or a major world championship event, having captained a National team, having served as President of National Sport Federations, or any similar achievement.

The TuksSport Hall of Fame Banquet sponsored by ABSA, has become a prestigious event over the past few years and also a highlight of both the sports and social calendars of the University. This establishment confirms our commitment of permanently honoring the sports stars of Tukkies, who helped building towards the wonderful Tukkie tradition. T his tradition of recognition was already established during the preceding events – the tradition to recognise Tukkies' pioneers and by inviting these role models back to campus.

TuksSport is currently experiencing a successful period at all levels. This wave of success has as its origins the individual contributions of all our sport stars - both participators and administrators.
