Induction programme for Assistant Lecturers (INNOVIL)
The Induction programme for Assistant Lecturers within the School of Information Technology (INNOVIL) programme is presented in January every year. The programme is presented by Education Consultants and Instructional Designers from the Department for Education Innovation, as well as guest lecturers. 26 assistant lecturers attended the course and they will all function in the School of Information Technology and lecture the CIL (computer literacy), Pastel and some Informatics courses.
The outcomes of the course include knowing university students and how they learn, accommodating diverse learning styles, effective communication and utilising the clickUP learning management system effectively. The programme is reviewed annually based on the feedback from the participants and personnel.
The programme was presented successfully in 2009 and from the feedback it is clear that the participants enjoyed the interactivity and group discussions. They valued the opportunity to practice their skills and apply what they have learnt in the micro-lessons. Their feedback will be considered when planning the next course. Class visits and evaluation of the participants are planned for the first quarter and they will receive attendance certificates for this programme.
