FINA World Cup Series

Posted on 11 November 2010

Our Congratulations goes out to Roland Schoeman, our TuksSwimmer, who returned yesterday to the TuksSwimming pool after returning from a very successful FINA World Cup Series.

During this series Roland proved, once again, to be an international contender and focused on the three 50m events, namely the Butterfly, Freestyle and Breaststroke. During the series Roland accumulated a total of 13 Gold Medals, 4 silver medals and 1 bronze medal in the three respective events.
With this feat he was also appointed, at the end of the series the overall 3rd place male performer of the series, just behind fellow South African Dariaan Townsend. By receiving this award he received a nice performance bonus of $30 000 from FINA for his efforts. This sort of money earnings is desperately needed by all our South African top swimmers as they strive to be competitive on an international stage, with very often a lack of personal sponsors and support.
We wish Roland well and especially over the next few weeks as he prepares for the FINA World Short Course Championships in Dubai, starting the 15th December. Here Roland will look to once again be in the medal hunt.
