Drs Felicite Fairer Wessels and Anneli Douglas from the Tourism Management Division presented a research poster at the 11th Annual Savanna Science Networking Meeting, that was held in the Kruger National Park in March 2013. The theme of the Savanna meeting was “Savanna ecosystems in times of change: advances in adaptive management, ecological understanding and social connectivity.”

National Department of Tourism makes bursaries available for postgraduate studies in Tourism Management - 05/03/2013

The Memorandum of Understanding signed between the National Department of Tourism (NDT) and the University of Pretoria in 2012, establish a formal basis of cooperation in support of tourism research and skills development activities between the NDT and UP. The NDT has made funds available to provide financial assistance to a number of postgraduate students at honours, master’s and doctoral level in pursuing tourism-related research studies commissioned by the NDT.

Tourism Management takes students “north-south-south” with a student mobility programme - 05/03/2013

The Tourism Management Division has a North-South-South Student Mobility Programme and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Oulu in Finland. The MoU was signed in 2005 and focuses on collaboration in the fields of tourism management and environmental studies. The collaboration has resulted in research publications, co-edited books and student exchange programmes.

When is the ‘best’ time to purchase an airline ticket in order to get the best price at the least effort? This topic was researched by Mr Ogaga Udjo, one of the top BComHons (Tourism Management) students of 2012. The research was done under the guidance of Prof Berendien Lubbe, Head of the Tourism Management Division, and Dr Anneli Douglas, a staff member in the Division.
